Mahindra is all set to reveal the XUV400 electric SUV on the 8th of September. The XUV400 will be the first electric SUV to be launched by Mahindra before its Born Electric SUVs are launched in 2024. Mahindra has released a new teaser wherein the design and silhouette of the EV are teased. Let’s take a closer look:

The teaser shows the XUV400 painted in an ‘Electric Blue’ sort of shade. The overall shape of the XUV400 is similar to the XUV300, however, it is expected to be longer in terms of length. The front fascia of the XUV400 is quite different when compared to the XUV300. The grille is closed off and finished in body color. It gets ‘X’ elements which are finished in Copper and Black. Mahindra’s new Twin Peaks Logo sits in the middle finished in Copper. Unlike the XUV300, the LED DRLs of the XUV400 doesn’t extend to the lower half of the bumper. Speaking of the bumper, the XUV400 gets a reworked front bumper with different air inlets.

It also gets a dose of the Copper treatment just like the grille. The alloy wheels are the same 16-inch units that the XUV300 was recently updated with. The EV features rear disc brakes just like the XUV300. The rear will feature extensive changes in the form of wraparound clear lens LED taillights. Other details include a spoiler and roof rails. We don’t expect Mahindra to make any major changes to the interiors of the XUV400 when compared to the XUV300. However, minor changes like a new interior theme and upholstery are expected. Mahindra could also upgrade the infotainment system to a larger unit and add also add more features.

Expect a digital instrument cluster or a larger MID than the outgoing one which will be capable of displaying all the EV-related data. Details about the powertrain are currently sparse but we expect the numbers to be on par with the Tata Nexon EV. Expect a single motor setup pushing close to 140hp. Mahindra could be targetting the range to be around 350 km to 400 km or even more considering the segment standards. As with most modern EVs, expect multiple charging options and charging speeds.
